Anchor is designed to be a calm and private space for personal practice. Privacy is not an afterthought. It is part of the design.
This policy explains what information Anchor collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.
Information We Collect
Anchor collects information needed to provide core app functionality, account access, subscription features, and reliability.
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
Email address
User/account ID
Authentication details required for secure login
This is securely managed through Supabase authentication services.
App Usage Data
To make features like progress tracking, session history, and syncing across devices work, Anchor stores:
Session completion count
Reflection entries you type (encrypted before storage)
Saved phrases and session content (encrypted before storage)
Your selected settings and preferences
Notification schedules
Theme and sound preferences
This data is linked to your account so it can sync across your devices.
Subscription Information
For iOS subscriptions, payments are processed by Apple through the App Store.
For supported non-iOS platforms, payments may be processed through Stripe.
Anchor never stores your full card number or raw payment details.
We only receive confirmation that:
A subscription is active
A purchase has been restored
Notifications
If you enable reminders, Anchor stores:
The times you selected for notifications
Your reminder frequency preferences
This data is used only to schedule local notifications on your device.
AI Features
If you use optional AI-powered features, relevant text (such as session text or user prompts) is sent to trusted AI processing providers to generate responses.
Data is encrypted in transit and protected using secure handling practices before transmission through our backend.
Data sent for AI responses is not used to train foundation models.
What We Do Not Collect
Anchor does not collect:
Location data
Contacts
Photos
Microphone input
Camera access
Advertising identifiers
Tracking data across other apps or websites for advertising
Anchor does not run third-party ad targeting in the app.
Any analytics data collected is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
How Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored in two places.
On Your Device
Many settings and preferences are stored locally so the app works smoothly even offline.
Secure Cloud Storage
Account data, session history, and reflections are stored securely using Supabase so you can access them across devices.
Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Written content is encrypted before database storage.
International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border data transfers.
Encryption & Access

App traffic uses HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit
Written content like reflections and saved session text is encrypted before database storage
Text you choose to save in Anchor is encrypted before cloud storage
Access is limited through authenticated access controls and row-level policies
Request data is processed only by systems required to provide app features
We continuously review and improve our security controls to keep your data protected.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used only to:
Provide the core typing experience
Sync your progress across devices
Manage your subscription status
Send reminders you choose to receive
Analyze feature usage and improve app stability and functionality
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share limited data only with service providers required to operate Anchor.
Third Party Services
Anchor relies on trusted services for essential features:
Supabase for secure authentication and data sync
Apple for iOS subscriptions and app distribution
Stripe for supported non-iOS payment processing
AI processing providers for optional AI-powered features — see the AI Features section above for details on what data is shared
Analytics providers for anonymous usage metrics and app stability monitoring
Apple and Google for notification delivery and platform services
These services follow industry standard security and have their own privacy policies.
Data Security
We use secure authentication and access controls to protect your information.
What you type is private to your account and is not publicly visible in the app. It is processed only by systems required to provide core features like secure storage and sync.
Anchor does not use your typed content for ad targeting.
While no system is perfect, we take reasonable steps to safeguard your data from unauthorized access.
In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users promptly in accordance with applicable law.
Data Retention
If you request account deletion, associated account data is deleted within 30 days.
Backups are purged within 90 days.
Server logs that may contain personal identifiers are retained for no more than 90 days.
Legal Basis & Compliance
Where applicable, Anchor operates in line with GDPR and CCPA requirements.
For GDPR, our lawful bases include contract performance and legitimate interest.
Users in applicable jurisdictions may have rights including data access, correction, portability, deletion requests, and the right to lodge complaints with a supervisory authority.

Edit or delete reflections
Change your account information
Disable notifications anytime
Request account deletion through our support email listed at the bottom of this page
When you delete your account, associated data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, and from backups within 90 days.
Children's Privacy
Anchor is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where applicable, such as parts of the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children in those age ranges.
Changes To This Policy
If we update this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Anchor means you accept the updated policy.
