Anchor is designed to be a calm and private space for personal practice. Privacy is not an afterthought. It is part of the product.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Anchor collects, how it is used, how it is stored, and how it is protected.
Information We Collect
Anchor collects the information needed to provide core app functionality, account access, subscription features, and service reliability.
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
• email address
• account or user ID
• authentication details required for secure login
• any profile information you choose to provide, such as your name, phone number, date of birth, or gender
Account authentication is securely managed through Supabase.
App Usage Data
To support features like session history, syncing across devices, saved content, and preferences, Anchor stores:
• session completion count
• reflections you choose to save
• saved phrases and custom session content
• selected settings and preferences
• notification schedules
• theme and sound preferences
Saved written content is encrypted before cloud storage.
Subscription Information
For iOS subscriptions, payments are processed by Apple through the App Store.
For supported non-iOS platforms, payments may be processed through Stripe or another supported billing provider.
Anchor does not store your full card number or raw payment details.
We only receive the information needed to confirm things like:
• whether a subscription is active
• whether a purchase has been restored
Notifications
If you enable reminders, Anchor stores:
• the times you selected for notifications
• your reminder frequency preferences
This information is used only to schedule notifications and support the reminder features you choose to use.
AI Features
If you use optional AI-powered features, relevant text that you submit, such as prompts or session-related text, is sent to trusted AI processing providers through our secure backend in order to generate responses.
Data is encrypted in transit and handled using secure transmission practices.
Data sent for AI responses is not used to train foundation models.
What We Do Not Collect
Anchor does not collect:
• location data
• contacts
• photos
• microphone input
• camera access
• advertising identifiers
• tracking data across other apps or websites for advertising
Anchor does not run third-party ad targeting in the app.
Anchor does not use your typed content for advertising.
How Your Data Is Stored
Your data may be stored in two places.
On Your Device
Many settings and preferences are stored locally so the app works smoothly.
Unsaved live session typing remains on your device.
Secure Cloud Storage
Account data, session history, and any content you choose to save, such as reflections or saved phrases, are stored securely so they can sync across devices.
Anchor currently uses Supabase for secure authentication and cloud storage.
Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Saved written content is encrypted before cloud storage.
International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in the United States or in other countries where our service providers operate.
Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border data transfers.
Encryption & Access
Anchor uses multiple layers of protection, including:
• HTTPS/TLS encryption for data in transit
• encryption of saved written content before cloud storage
• authenticated access controls and row-level security policies
• restricted access to the systems required to operate app features
We continuously review and improve our security practices.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information only to:
• provide the core typing experience
• sync your data across devices
• manage subscription status
• send reminders you choose to receive
• support saved content and account features
• improve app stability, reliability, and functionality
We do not sell or rent your personal data.
We share limited data only with service providers needed to operate Anchor.
Third-Party Services
Anchor relies on trusted services for essential features, including:
• Supabase for authentication and secure data sync
• Apple for iOS subscriptions and app distribution
• Stripe or other supported providers for non-iOS payment processing
• trusted AI providers for optional AI-powered features
• analytics and monitoring providers for anonymous usage metrics and stability monitoring
• Apple and Google platform services for notifications and related system features
These providers have their own terms and privacy policies.
Data Security
Anchor uses secure authentication, encryption, and access controls to protect your information.
What you type is private to your account and is not publicly visible in the app.
Your content is processed only by the systems needed to provide core features like secure storage, sync, reminders, and optional AI features you choose to use.
While no system can guarantee absolute security, we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information from unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure.
If a data breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.
Data Retention
If you delete your account in the app or otherwise request account deletion, associated account data is deleted within 30 days.
Backups are purged within 90 days.
Server logs that may contain personal identifiers are retained for no more than 90 days, unless a longer period is required for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
Legal Basis & Compliance
Where applicable, Anchor operates in line with GDPR and CCPA requirements.
For GDPR, our lawful bases may include:
• performance of a contract
• legitimate interests
• consent, where required
Users in applicable jurisdictions may have rights including:
• access to their data
• correction of inaccurate data
• deletion requests
• portability requests
• objection to certain processing
• the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Your Control Over Your Data
You can:
• delete saved content and reflections
• change your account information
• disable notifications at any time
• delete your account in the app by going to Settings > Account > Manage > Delete Account
If you cannot access your account or run into a problem with in-app deletion, you can contact hello@anchorstud.io for assistance.
When you delete your account, associated account data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, and from backups within 90 days.
Children’s Privacy
Anchor is not intended for children under 13, or under 16 where required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children in those age ranges.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
Continued use of Anchor after an update means you accept the revised policy.
